From the first instant that Jen Macro’s pure pop vocals roll out from between the sun-drenched, lazy guitar lines and off-kilter rhythm lines, 'Summer' builds up and kicks in with intent (and fuzzed out bass lines).
It's a song with everything. Cardigans-pure vocals, doom-laden guitar riffs, pattern-hopping drum breaks, a choir of backing vocals. And the pure emotion in the crack of Macro's vocals across the chorus will completely disarm you, however many times you listen.
The track's video was actually directed and edited by Jen Macro herself. Following the guitars as they move from shoegaze to psychedelic, kaleidoscope-ing through the song's layers.
Self-produced and recorded at One Cat Studio in Brixton, 'Summer' will be released via Onomatopoeia Records on 16.08.19
