introducing:

King No-One

King No-One are an indie rock band that will blow your mind.

Zach Lount’s vocals blend perfectly with the silky smooth and seductive guitar and bass, making them reminiscent of both Arctic Monkeys and Muse. Formed in 2012, it’s clear that this band are destined for a long career of continued success.

Raw Meat: Tell us about your local music scene; what’s your favourite local venue, are there any record labels or stores we should look up, what’s the scene like where you’re from?
King No-One: The York music scene isn’t particularly ‘alive’ – it’s very DIY. We tend to drift off to Leeds a lot. There are some great people and venues in Leeds and the music industry there is very close-knit. People love to help out when they can, the only issue is the hit and miss part with the gigs there. One day you’ll perform to thousands, the next you’ll perform to short of a hundred.

Name one track or band that you love from the past.
Band from the past, Radiohead. Song from the past, 'Feeling Oblivion' by Turin Brakes.

Name one track or band that you’re loving right now.
Band right now, Local Natives. Song right now, 'Hanging On' by Active Child.

Name one track or band that you think we should listening out for in the future.
GirlsOnDrugs are a fantastic duo. They’re not at all like us, but we performed at the same festival and there was that mutual respect thing going on; we acknowledge each other’s ability and effort.

What are you up to now?
We're on a short break from song writing, we've still got a few dates before August but mostly we’ll be hard grafting for the next couple of weeks to find a new tune. We’re taking all different methods for inspiration: pitch black rooms, boiling green houses, cliff edges, sewers and probably narcotics. You know, that sort of stuff.

What can we expect from you next?
We never dwell on the past, for us it's always what's next. We played Leeds & Reading festival last Summer and our track, 'Millennium' did really well (the lead single from their EP of the same name); it helped us get on Embraces UK O2 Academy tour, got international radio play... Yeah these things can go in our bio, but we have to move on and better everything we've done. 'Millennium' has only been out a few months but its time is passing, we can forget about that song now and write something completely new. We're looking at anticipating the next music for guitar bands, getting in there first with fresh material. We're not big enough to pioneer new sounds but we can make new sounds that twitch peoples ears until we're big enough to then help craft the music of now. From us, you can just expect a lot of effort.

NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK, BUT LEAVE A COMMENT ANYWAY

Way back in 2015 we asked Plastic Mermaids the only questions that matter.

There's more than a little nostalgia in the power-psych of Fez. We asked them the all important questions just in time for the release of their latest single.

Krush Puppies' latest medieval-tinged murder ballad is a grubby, fuzzy attention-grabber.
