Suburban Group

Since Suburban Group formed last summer, the lads have been working on demo after demo and playing gig after gig in hope of spreading their sound to almost anyone that will listen.

Based in Kingston, the first song the band released, ‘Drunk’, proves that they’re onto something special. The summery vibes combined with Ollie’s eerie vocals, lead the audience into a false sense of security before they smash out some completely unexpected and incredible riffs.

Raw Meat: What’s your favourite local venue?

Suburban Group: We’re big on Scala at the minute. It’s good a really good atmosphere, cool space, and everyone’s there to have a sweet time.

Are there any record labels or stores that we should look up?

BSM are an awesome label, along with Topshelf and Banquet Records.

What’s the scene like where you’re from?

It’s pretty good here in Kingston! Lots of awesome acts coming out, mainly at Banquet’s New Slang night where there’s a great opportunity for new acts to show off their talent on stage.

Name one track or band that you love from the past.

As cliché as it sounds, we all love Nirvana. We all grew up listening to them and artists like Pixies, Sonic Youth and Bush.

Name one track or band that you’re loving right now.

Beasts are wicked.

Name one track or band that you think we should be listening out for in the future.

I (Ollie), remember going to see Dinosaur Pile-Up at New slang in Kingston. They really blew me away and I think those lads are gonna go on to do some great things.

What are you up to now?

We’re currently getting some of our new stuff together and looking for gigs. We can’t wait to just play to however many people want to see us – we just want to put on a fucking great show.
