#51 The Franklys - Bad News

The Franklys single, 'Bad News' covers a well-documented topic we can all relate to: love rats.

A direct and simple song; there are riffs, beats, solos and melody hooks that could be used to write the text book for rock n roll.

This four-piece come from three very different countries, each with their own rock legacy; the UK, the USA and Sweden. Their single (follow up to previous single, 'Puppet') has a legacy of its own - produced by Sean Genockey (RedRacer) and mastered by Ed Woods (Muse, Roger Daltrey), it sees Zoe Biggs bring Black Sabbath-heavy bass lines, Nicole Pinto's furious drumming, the roaring guitar lines of Fanny Broburg and Jen Ahlkvist's hollow, dark vocals. Although very much at the beginning of their career, the band have a seventies swagger and a (justified) self-assurance that commands your attention.

The single is released 27/04/15 on Electric Wood Records.

NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK, BUT LEAVE A COMMENT ANYWAY

Rekindle all your Avril Lavigne angst with the new double single from King Princess.

Platypus Complex' debut single writhes around your noggin, which is exactly what we'd hoped to hear from these desert-driven psychedelic instrumentalists.

Southend meets Salerno, or is it Portsmouth meets Puglia, who knows? Wherever you are this summer the ride is relentless.
