It’s all about the relationship between the lead vocalist and guitar on this track. Their duality builds and builds, as if the track wasn’t already tense enough, until the guitarist is unleashed in a full sulphur-breathing, all-igniting hellfire. ‘Put Down Your Pen’ is, in a word, taut. And shows Childcare continue to prick ears and stir hearts as they merrily roar along.

The band have just announced a string of dates supporting To Kill A King (hi Grant!) across the UK in January. So... you should probably get on that.
