There's an obvious appreciation of classic Motown and Northern Soul in the organ chords that pad around in the background of songs like 'Back Then' and the funky cow bell in title track 'Young Ones'. This debut is full of energetic beats, Mark Ronson-suedo-retro bass lines and infectious, jump-around vocal hooks.
RAW MEAT: Tell us about your local music scene; what’s your favourite local venue, are there any record labels or stores that we should look up, what’s the scene like where you're from?
Formation: The only scene in Wimbledon for us revolves around the crazy music that we make with our friends in our mum's shed. You're more then welcome to come check it out whenever you're in town. Oh, and The Windmill in Brixton, thats our second home.
Name one track or band that you love from the past.
Do you remember that band Clor? Man, they were great.
Name one track or band that you're loving right now.
I'm listening to this new Djang Django tune 'Reflections' right now. There's a breakdown, with a saxophone solo! I mean, for real! What a tune.
Name one track or band that you think we should be listening out for in the future.
If you're not aware of John Maus, then get to know. I hear there'll be new music from him soon and you don't want to miss it.
What are you up to now?
Right now I'm thinking about lunch. Tesco's meal deal or Marks & Spencer Mexican three bean wrap? Life is a series of tough choices. Other than that, we're just tearing up venues across Europe, unleashing the groove.
What can we expect from you next?
More music, more groove, more gigs. We're going to Berlin, we're playing Latitude festival, there's talk of a trip to Corsica, its all happening and you need to be there.
