Phantom Runners

Phantom Runners are a band with a vision. Their spacey, laid back indie has pop melodies in its bones and their first single of 2015, 'Laserbeam' is a perfect example.

There's eighties post-punk in Phantom Runners' chord progressions, but a funky rumble in their rhythm sections that betrays their upbeat roots.

Raw Meat: Tell us about your local music scene; what’s your favourite local venue, are there any record labels or stores we should look up, what’s the scene like where you’re from?
Phantom Runners: Brighton has a crazy music scene, there's probably more bands than people! Gotta love Green Door Store as a venue; really vibe-y when there's a big crowd. Or maybe The Haunt... or Concorde... OK we can't decide...

Name one track or band that you love from the past.
Just one?? That's not fair! Ok so we're really getting back into old school, early seventies funk, so we'll say... 'Skin I'm In' - Sly & the Family Stone.

Name one track or band that you’re loving right now.
Rhodes - 'Breathe'... gorgeous track.

Name one track or band that you think we should listening out for in the future.
Listen out for Glass City Vice, they're dropping new tunes in March and they'll make you prolapse.

What are you up to now?
Just chillin'.

What can we expect from you next?
More tunes and tours! We're getting our funding sorted to get back in the studio, we've got some sexy new sounds! And without revealing too much, we'll be out on the road again come late spring!

NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK, BUT LEAVE A COMMENT ANYWAY

Way back in 2015 we asked Plastic Mermaids the only questions that matter.

There's more than a little nostalgia in the power-psych of Fez. We asked them the all important questions just in time for the release of their latest single.

Krush Puppies' latest medieval-tinged murder ballad is a grubby, fuzzy attention-grabber.
