Do you remember in the Muppets when the greatest named band in history, Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem, used to play? Animal was on drums, obviously. And today, as those pretty Brighton-folk, Strange Cages prepare to release their new single ‘Hypothalamus Blues' via Vallance Records by giving you lot a whiff of it via us, I can't help but think back to those psychedelic puppets tearing it up.
While hollow sand whips in desert circles across six strings, a Ty Segall blasé drawl is perfectly balanced by the wall of energy provided by the drums. 'Hypothalamus Blues' is a bigger, meaner and more knowing track than anything we've heard from these guys before.
The last time I saw Strange Cages live their uncertainty was palpable, but here you can feel them finding their feet and it's exciting to say the least.
See them live at the below dates:
19/02/18 – Portsmouth, Edge of The Wedge
20/02/18 – Southampton, The Alex
21/02/18 – Bristol, Hy
22/02/18 – Cardiff, The Full Moon
23/02/18 – Brighton, Green Door Store
01/03/18 – London, The Lock Tavern
